What is popular culture, and what does it mean to you?
Popular culture is deemed as what is popular within the social context, that of which is most strongly represented by what is perceived to be popularly accepted among society. To me it means what is popluar at that time, whatever the society is buying, watching, or doing. Popular cultures changes from time to time. Something could be in this minutes but not the next minute.
Why is an understanding of popular culture relevant to you in a business environmnent and in your present and future career?
Because that is how your business is going to make money. You have to understand what society is needing and what they will buy, watch, or listen to. With everything that is going to something could be in today and not in tomorrow.
What would you consider to be an example of a pop culture? And why would you choose it?
I would choose the Nintendo Wii. I chose this because it is something that everyone can enjoy not only that but I have heard that it is also being used for physical thearpy. So I think that is a good pop culture.

The Wii is very big in pop culture right now. It is such a hot item that no store can keep them on the shelves.
Nintendo Wii is good for all.

i believe that the wii is the first step towards virtual reality. the games our kids our playing are becoming more and more interactive in which the player can actually feel they are somwhere else. our kids, kids will probably be able to experience another world with the five senses at the click of a button!
I think that Nintendo is really on to something with this. Grown people are trying to find this system to use it for the physical activity that it offers.
My neice spent the weekend with us and brought over her Wii. The next day I was so sore from playing it all night. It seems like everyone is getting one. Good Luck in this class. It seems intersesting, I have never used blogs before.
The Wii is a great popular culture item. Nursing homes are actually using them to help paitents as a form of physical therapy. It just goes to show that video games are not just for kids anymore.
